Why use this acceptance checker?
The Philippine National ID (PhilSys) and its digital version (ePhilID) are legally valid under Republic Act 11055 — but in practice, acceptance policies vary between institutions. NBI branches often require the physical card. Some LTO offices have not yet updated their systems for ePhilID. Certain schools list only named IDs on their forms and may question a National ID if staff are unaware of RA 11055.
This tool maps each service to its current real-world acceptance policy, tells you which ID type to bring (physical card, ePhilID, or either), lists the exact requirements alongside the ID, and gives you a practical tip for each situation — so you are prepared before you go.

Editorial note — NationalIDDigital.ph team
Acceptance data in this tool is based on BSP Memorandum M-2022-001, RA 11055 IRR Section 9, and field-verified policies from PSA, DFA, NBI, LTO, and major Philippine banks as of June 2026. Institutional policies may change without notice. Always call ahead or check the institution's official website before your visit, especially for NBI and LTO which have been slower to update for ePhilID.
Common questions about National ID acceptance — June 2026.
Yes. GCash accepts both the physical PhilID card and the ePhilID for full KYC verification. You need a clear photo of both sides of your ID and a live selfie. Your name must exactly match your registered GCash name. If GCash rejects your ePhilID screenshot, save a high-resolution version from the eGovPH app and re-upload — avoid screenshots showing the phone status bar.
Yes. All BSP-regulated banks must accept the National ID as a valid primary government-issued ID for account opening under BSP regulations and RA 11055. The physical card is preferred for in-branch visits. Digital banks like Tonik, GoTyme, and SeaBank accept the ePhilID for fully online account opening — no branch visit required.
Yes. The ePhilID carries the same legal validity as the physical PhilID card under RA 11055. It is accepted by all government agencies, banks, employers, and most private institutions. In practice, some agencies such as NBI prefer the physical card. If an institution refuses your ePhilID, you can cite Section 9 of the RA 11055 IRR — by law they must accept it.
Yes. DFA accepts the National ID as a valid primary ID for both new passport applications and renewals. However, a PSA-authenticated Birth Certificate is still required as a supporting document for first-time applicants regardless of what primary ID you present. The physical card is strongly preferred for first-time applications.
NBI branches generally require the original physical PhilID card. The ePhilID alone is typically not accepted as the sole ID at NBI branches as of 2026. If you do not have your physical card yet, pair your ePhilID with another government-issued ID such as a Voter ID, UMID, or PSA-issued document. Always call your specific NBI branch to confirm before visiting.
Yes. The National ID is a valid ID under the SIM Registration Act (RA 11934). Both the physical card and ePhilID are accepted for online SIM registration via the Globe, Smart, DITO, and TNT apps. Your registered name must match exactly. You can complete registration entirely online without visiting a store.
