GCash has two verification tiers: Basic, which comes with a PHP 8,000 monthly wallet limit and no access to savings, credit, or investment products, and Fully Verified, which raises the limit to PHP 100,000 per month and opens up the complete GCash financial ecosystem.
Your Philippine National ID — whether the physical PhilID card, a printed ePhilID, or the digital version in the eGovPH app — is one of the easiest IDs to use for GCash full KYC. Unlike a passport, which requires a physical card scan in good condition, the ePhilID can be submitted as a screenshot or scanned straight from your phone without needing the physical card at all. That makes it especially useful for newly registered Filipinos still waiting for their physical card to arrive.
This guide walks through every step of GCash verification using your National ID, gives you the complete and current list of accepted IDs, explains exactly what to do if your submission is rejected, and answers the most common questions — including how long approval genuinely takes and whether your biometric data is ever exposed.
Full List of Valid IDs for GCash Verification (2026)
The National ID is the most recommended option — it's free, doesn't expire, and nearly every adult Filipino qualifies — but GCash accepts eight IDs in total for full verification.
Don't have your physical card yet? Use your ePhilID instead.
Your digital ePhilID from the eGovPH app is accepted by GCash the same way as the physical card — scan it directly from that screen during the ID-capture step, or upload a clear screenshot if the app allows file uploads. If you have a printed ePhilID instead, that works too: just make sure it's printed in color if possible, with no heavy creases across the photo or QR code.

How to Verify GCash Using Your National ID
8 steps — submission takes 5 to 10 minutes. GCash's official processing window afterward is 1 to 3 business days.
Update GCash to the latest version
Before starting, open the Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) and confirm you are running the latest GCash version. Outdated app versions have known issues with the ID upload screen and selfie verification. Close and reopen GCash after updating.
Open your GCash profile
Open GCash and tap your profile photo or the person icon at the top left of the home screen. This takes you to your account profile page where your current verification status is shown.
Tap "Verify Now" or "Get Verified"
On your profile page, your current tier (Basic or Unverified) is displayed. Tap Verify Now or Get Verified — the label varies by app version. This opens the KYC flow.
Select "National ID" from the ID list
GCash shows a list of accepted government IDs. Scroll down and select National ID (it may also appear as PhilSys ID or PhilSys National ID depending on your app version). This covers the physical PhilID card, a printed ePhilID, and the digital ePhilID.
Photograph the front of your ID
Place your PhilID flat on a dark, non-reflective surface under bright, even lighting. All four corners of the card must be fully visible — partial or cropped images are the single most common rejection reason. Tap Capture when the image is clear, not glared, and fully in frame.
Photograph the back of your ID (QR side)
Flip the card to the back, which shows the QR code. The entire QR code must be clearly visible and unobstructed — no fingers, no sleeve, no glare directly on the QR pattern. Tap Capture when the image is sharp and fully in frame.
Enter your PhilID details
GCash asks you to manually enter the information printed on your card: your full name exactly as shown, your date of birth, and your ID number (the PCN or reference number visible on the front of your PhilID). Enter these exactly — any mismatch between what you type and what appears on the card is an automatic rejection.
Complete selfie verification and submit
GCash asks you to take a live selfie to match your face with the photo on your PhilID. Face the front-facing camera directly in a well-lit room, remove glasses and hats, and follow any on-screen prompts such as blinking or turning your head slightly. GCash uses liveness detection, so the selfie must be taken live — you cannot upload a photo from your gallery.
After the selfie, tap Submit. GCash's official processing window is 1 to 3 business days — though many users report approval sooner. You will receive an SMS and in-app notification when your account is fully verified. Do not resubmit during this period.
Why GCash Verification Gets Rejected — and How to Fix It
If your first submission was rejected, here are the exact causes and the fix for each one.
GCash Limits: Before and After Full Verification
Exact wallet limits that change when your National ID KYC is approved. GCash updates these periodically — always confirm current figures under Profile > Profile Limits in the app.

Why This Guide Covers More Than the GCash Help Center Does
GCash's own in-app help articles tell you what to do in the verification flow, but they don't explain why specific steps matter, what happens at the data-entry stage, or why a rejection occurs even when you thought you did everything right. This guide fills that gap — particularly for the two steps that cause most failures, and for the accepted-ID list, which changes more often than most sites bother to check.
The Photo Step Is Where Most Rejections Happen
GCash uses automated image recognition to verify that the ID photo is complete, clear, and matches the submitted data. The system is strict about four things: all four card corners must be visible, the surface must not have glare over text or the photo, the QR code on the back must be unobstructed, and the card must not be photographed at an angle. Understanding this before you start means you set up the shot correctly the first time rather than going through multiple rejection cycles.
The ePhilID Shortcut Millions of Filipinos Don't Know About
A significant proportion of Filipinos searching "national id for gcash verification" are doing so while still waiting for their physical PhilID card to arrive. The fact that a screenshot of the ePhilID from the eGovPH app works identically in the GCash flow — and that you can activate your ePhilID as soon as your biometric data is processed, well before the physical card ships — is not widely known. This guide makes that alternative visible upfront, so people don't assume they need to wait for physical card delivery before unlocking their GCash account.
Getting the Accepted-ID List Right Matters
Some guides online still list Voter's ID as GCash-acceptable — it currently isn't. Getting this wrong sends people to a bank or 7-Eleven with the wrong ID in hand, wasting a trip. This guide is checked against GCash's own published accepted-ID list so the eight IDs above reflect what the app actually accepts today.
